Wat Phra Thong or Wat Phra Pud (means Temple of the rising Buddha statue) is one of the most ancient temples of Phuket. The name comes from the way people found the respectful Buddha statue, with only half of the body above the ground. The earliest record about the statue was written in 1973. The much respectful Buddha statue is well kept in the main church with an exquisite interior and exterior. In the area, there is also “Wat Phra Thong Museum” where historical ancient items are kept waiting for visitors to explore. The museum opens daily from 7am to 5pm.
