Part Three: Day 2 of Detox at Thanyapura

This is the third article in four-part series chronicling Natasha’s personal detox journey.  Part one introduces the reasons for going on a detox while part two takes the readers to the start of her journey.

No Coffee

No coffee. The intense throbbing in my head was a stark reminder of NO COFFEE.

I slept in. I never sleep past 7 am, I am an early bird. I missed my morning exercise class. I sleepily made my way to breakfast, which was an absolute delight! Cashew lemonade with summer berries took my mind off an intense headache for a while. Then I cancelled my yoga session. This was not a good start to my second day of detoxing surely?

Health Consultations

This morning was all about health consultations. This really interests me as health and doctor visits are not something I regularly do and I have had a feeling that I need my hormones checking to make sure everything is in working order. I met with Dr. Sutthi for a heavy metal scan to see what levels I had in my body.

This quick and precise analysis uses spectrophotometry to trace elements and heavy metals in the body’s tissues.  By measuring the absorbance level or the optical density of specific chemical or mineral substances, this screening helps to identify the most efficient supplementation to maximise nutritional benefits. The scan took seconds and the results were given via the internet in less than a minute!

My results showed that I had high levels of aluminium, silver, cadmium, mercury and lead in my body. Dr. Sutthi explained that most of us have similar levels, especially as silver was used in photography development and then thrown into the rivers or waterways, thus entering the water table for all living beings. The aluminium result is a concern though, so I have to reduce my antiperspirant applications and not cook with kitchenware containing this metal. For example, switch to stainless steel to avoid it getting any higher. The mineral test was all OK, the test showed low levels of magnesium and silicon, so that is easily fixed.

My headache was becoming more intense, so I had lunch, a rainbow salad, and then made my way back to the health centre to experience my first session of BEMER.

BEMER (Bio-Electro-Magnetic-Energy-Regulation)

I had never heard of BEMER before. It means Bio-Electro-Magnetic-Energy-Regulation and is a new therapy that helps to regulate the flow of energy in your body.

Of course, I understand that good circulation is vital to health and that blood circulation is our body’s supply system. BEMER works to enhance this so it encourages the supply to the tissues and organs with nutrients and oxygen while removing and disposing of resulting waste products. Approximately 75% of this process takes place in the smallest blood vessels – the so-called microcirculation.

I relaxed during my session and Nikki talked me through the whole process, which is painless and relaxing. She put a pad on my head to help my headache, but at this juncture, I knew the only thing that would ease the pain would be a cup of coffee.

Detoxification Ivy

After my session, I experienced a detoxification IV treatment. I was hooked up to a drip and fed nutrients for my liver intravenously. This helped my headache!

After my second day of detoxing, I have to admit I felt tired and looked forward to sleeping. I had never had such a big reaction to detoxing before, I can only surmise that I really needed to do it. I ate dinner early (Mediterranean vegetables with seeds and nuts), and headed to bed.
