Time to do something for me… Yeah, easier said than done.

I must admit I feel pretty lucky to live in a paradise like Phuket. Well renowned for its beautiful beaches and also for the food. I’ve been living here for 2 years now.

Let me introduce myself. I’m Patrick, I’m from Montreal in Canada. I am 43 years-old and as my picture tells us, I’ve been in a better shape in my life.

I have always loved sports in general. Without being a star, I worked hard and enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, and football. When I was in my 20s, I was going to the gym 3 to 4 times a week. I was in very good shape.

In my 30s, I was working hard for a major cell phone company and stopped almost all sports. On top of that, I started using cigarettes. I know… not good. I needed to do something before high blood pressure and diabetes caught me.

I stopped smoking 6 months ago and now I’m more than ready to get back in the gym and workout. I feel really lucky to have the possibility to work with Chris Weeks and his team at Thanyapura. Thanks guys for the opportunity.

Alright, the body transformation program at Thanyapura in Phuket extends over 8 weeks. I have completed Week One – my impressions?

First of all, I thought I was in better shape than this. I guess this is human nature: refusing to admit the simple truth that I wasn’t in shape at all.
I knew what I was getting into when I accepted this challenge. Work hard, follow the diet, change your habits. I am ready!

About the diet, I’m pretty much free to eat what I want. There are some limitations but it’s all in the way you see it and prepare your food. Just by changing my diet, I already feel better and have more energy. The equation is simple: the better the fuel better the engine.

The training itself is very intense. I always liked a good sweat. It’s challenging and fun. I forgot how good it feels when you train, the powerful feeling you have after a nice session at the gym.

Wow, the only thing i haven’t missed is the pain! After the two first sessions, my muscles were a bit… stiff, lets say. I took it really easy over the rest of the week and now I feel ready to get into Week Two!
